The UN Global Compact Network Nigeria participated in the Africa Social Impact Summit Policy Dialogue on 28 January 2026 as a strategic partner. The Network was represented by Gloria Okorie, Head of Programmes, in the second of two engagements with the Summit platform during the cycle, following participation in the Summit partner event on 26 September.
The Africa Social Impact Summit brings business, government, development partners and civil society into a single forum on the continent’s social and environmental challenges. The policy dialogue component is the part of that platform designed to move the conversation beyond the plenary stage, testing what is actually implementable and where responsibility for delivery sits between the public and private sectors.
Three themes framed the Network’s engagement. The first was innovative solutions for sustainable development, with attention to approaches that have been proven at pilot stage and are ready to be taken further. The second was cross-sector collaboration, recognising that the most persistent development challenges rarely sit inside the mandate of any single institution. The third was investment pathways for measurable impact, which speaks directly to the gap the Network works in: the distance between corporate commitment and deployed capital.
That third theme runs through much of the Network’s programming. Commitments made at summit level are only as good as the governance, data and internal strategy that sit behind them, and the dialogue provided a useful venue to press that point with stakeholders who set policy as well as those who implement it.
The engagement strengthened existing partnerships and positioned the Network within ongoing conversations shaping social and environmental impact initiatives across Africa. It also laid the groundwork for a deeper role later in the year, when the Network went on to co-organise the 2026 Summit itself.
