LAGOS, NIGERIA, 16 June 2022 — Corporate heads and executives from over 70 organizations in Nigeria will join other leaders of government establishments and the  United Nations Global Compact to exchange ideas and offer recommendations on the role the private sector plays in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs.)

The Open House, which is organized by the  United Nations Global Compact Network Nigeria, in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact office, New York, is themed “The Business Case for Sustainability” and will be held on Friday, 17 June 2022 at the Four Points by Sheraton Lagos from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. 

The Open House will feature a panel discussion with Olubunmi Fabamwo, Chairman, Lagos State Civil Service Commission; James Adenuga, Group Chief HSSE & Sustainability, Dangote Group; Titilayo Giwa, Company Secretary/Head of Legal, Ripen Marine Contractors Ltd; Chinwe Okpala, Group Head, Corporate Affairs, Communications and Sustainability, UAC of Nigeria Plc; and Adebisi Adeoti, Country Leader, Dow Chemicals. Their deliberations will focus on SDG-aligned business practices as well as showcase their experience and journey in sustainability—the challenges, successes, new trends, and ambitions for Nigeria. 

One of the key highlights of the event is the onboarding session for over 35 well-respected large corporations as participants in the United Nations Global Compact, including Dangote Group, Heineken Nigeria, Lafarge, Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), and KPMG Nigeria, to mention but a few. 

The opening remarks will be delivered by Mrs. Uto Ukpanah, Board Member, UN Global Compact Network Nigeria and Company Secretary, MTN Nigeria Plc. The hosts of the event include Naomi Nwokolo, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network Nigeria and Chair, African Regional Network Council- United Nations Global Compact; Sue Allchurch, Chief, Outreach & Engagement, United Nations Global Compact; Meghan Black, Senior Manager, Participant Engagement, United Nations Global Compact; and Tumi Onamade, Senior Manager, Participant Engagement & Programmes, UN Global Compact Network Nigeria.
