Private Sector Partnership Group Human Capital Development Policy Forum, convened by NESG

The UN Global Compact Network Nigeria participated in the Human Capital Development Policy Forum of the Private Sector Partnership Group, convened by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group on 17 and 18 March 2026.

Human capital development has become one of the more demanding items on Nigeria’s policy agenda, cutting across health, education, skills and employability, and requiring coordination between institutions that do not always plan together. The Private Sector Partnership Group exists to bring business into that coordination as a participant in delivery rather than an audience for it.

Naomi Nwokolo contributed to discussions on advancing practical, private-sector-led human capital development interventions in Nigeria, with a focus on what companies are positioned to deliver directly. Gloria Okorie, Head of Programmes, represented the organisation across broader stakeholder engagements spanning government, academia, labour, civil society and development partners.

The forum strengthened the Network’s positioning within Nigeria’s human capital development ecosystem and opened opportunities for collaboration around workforce development, youth employability, data-driven impact reporting and inclusive economic growth. The reporting strand is closely tied to the Network’s existing work, since companies that already report annually through the Communication on Progress are better placed to evidence their contribution to national human capital outcomes.

The engagement also connects to the Network’s wider youth-facing programming, including the SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals, which develops the same cohort the human capital agenda is ultimately concerned with.
