For five years running, the UN Global Compact has recognized several SDG Pioneers — business leaders who are using business as a force for good to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact. SDG Pioneers play a vital role in narrowing business focus on the SDGs and showing how responsible businesses and business leaders can drive their achievement.
A new global application period for 2021 is open from 11 January until 15 March and will culminate in the selection of Global SDG Pioneers, who will be recognized during the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit, a virtual event taking place on 15–16 June, 2021. The worldwide search for SDG Pioneers among UN Global Compact Member Companies will build on national searches by 15 Global Compact Local Networks.
The Global Compact Nigerian Network has previously announced Tobi Oyewole as our winner in January 2021; and he, along with the winners of other national rounds, will automatically compete in the global round along with other candidates.
Nigerian professionals using business as a force for good to advance the Global Goals, and integrate the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact into operations have the opportunity to nominate themselves and be nominated for one of the most prestigious SDG Awards worldwide.
