Twenty-one companies participated in the 2026 Business and Human Rights Accelerator, a six-month programme designed to help businesses move quickly from commitment to action on human rights and labour rights by establishing an ongoing human rights due diligence process.
Participants learned to identify their responsibilities in respecting human rights and labour rights, as set out in the International Bill of Human Rights and the International Labour Organisation’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. The programme then took them through establishing a due diligence process in alignment with international standards, preparing for evolving legislation in the markets they operate and trade in, and reporting outcomes effectively through the Communication on Progress.
The Accelerator combines collaborative sessions, flexible learning options and access to industry experts, pairing local implementation realities with global standards and best practice. Nigeria has consistently fielded one of the largest participant groups in the African region for this programme.
Participating companies included Access Bank, IPMC, NNPC, Sahara Group, Chevron Traffic Management, June 19 Nigeria Limited, Eddy Telecom Enterprises, Multiple Development Services, Mamuzo Hospitals, Epicforge, Salid Agriculture, Sephglobal, Utiliko, Reliance Chemical Products Limited, Health Systems Consult Limited, Xcellon Capital Advisors, Skool Media, Tony Digital 247 and SOSAI Renewable Energies.
The cohort graduated at the Private Sector Dialogue on Business and Human Rights on 19 June 2026, where Sustained Commitment Awards were presented to three companies for completing the programme.
