Participant Orientation and Onboarding Session

The UN Global Compact Network Nigeria delivered an orientation and update session on 28 July 2026 for newly approved and existing participants, covering the practical requirements of participation in the UN Global Compact.

Joining the Global Compact commits a company to the Ten Principles across human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption, and to reporting publicly on its progress each year. The onboarding session exists to make sure that commitment does not stall at the point of signature, and that the people responsible for it inside each company know exactly what is expected of them and when.

The session provided detailed guidance on navigating the participant dashboard and completing the annual Communication on Progress, the Global Compact’s public disclosure requirement. Representatives were also equipped with practical methodologies for integrating sustainability principles directly into core business operations, rather than running them as a separate track alongside the business.

The session recorded 63 registrations with 37 participants in attendance, giving the team direct contact with the individuals who carry reporting responsibility within their organisations.

Sessions of this kind directly strengthen corporate capacity to advance company sustainability journeys, and they remain one of the most practical points of contact between the Network and its participant base.
