The UN Global Compact Network Nigeria partnered with the Nigerian Exchange Group for the 2026 edition of Ring the Bell for Gender Equality, held on 10 March 2026. The event convened leaders from government, business and civil society to advance conversations on gender equality, women’s leadership and inclusive economic participation in Nigeria.
Ring the Bell for Gender Equality is a global initiative marked each year on exchange floors around the world in the period around International Women’s Day. Holding it at the exchange is deliberate. It places the gender conversation in the building where capital is allocated, rather than keeping it in a separate track reserved for corporate social responsibility.
The partnership with NGX is a long-standing one. The 2025 edition, the 9th Ring the Bell for Gender Equality Symposium, was co-organised by the Network alongside NGX, the International Finance Corporation, UN Women Nigeria, the World Federation of Exchanges, the Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative and Women Executives on Board, under the theme Accelerate Action for All Women.
The 2026 engagement reinforced the Network’s commitment to driving private sector action on gender equality. It also complements the Network’s programme work in this area, particularly the Target Gender Equality Accelerator, which takes participating companies through the practical work of setting and reporting against targets on women’s representation and leadership.
The event strengthened collaboration with key national stakeholders across the business and policy ecosystem, and kept the Network visible in a conversation that runs through both its programming and its participant base.
